Should Multitasking Be Promoted In Organizations?

Multitasking is the practice of doing more than just one task at a time. As far as the question is concerned that whether or not an organization should promote multitasking, the answer is that multitasking involves with it various advantages and disadvantages. This implies that you cannot expect to integrate multitasking into your organization without getting disadvantages. Yes, it does have a number of advantages but they always come with a range of disadvantages. 

The organizations need to identify and determine that what are their requirements and once they determine their requirements they should decide whether or not they should encourage multitasking in their working practices. This article intends to highlight some major advantages and disadvantages of multitasking which will help organizations decide on whether they should go for it or not.

Advantages:

 

Being able to accomplish a lot in less time:

Through multitasking, you become able to carry out a lot of tasks in a less period of time. This could not have been possible if you have focused on one task at a time and it would have consumed a lot of your time. When organizations are running out of time, when deadlines are tight then they can consider doing multitasking because it will help them carry out a number of tasks early. Even if you are not fully accomplishing what you had planned to, you are saving your time and resources which is a great factor for employers as well as employees. 

There are certain things that you must consider because multitasking has different rules that must be followed. This includes enhanced focus, being diligent and a number of other accompanying elements.

Increased productivity:

When you are indulged in the practice of multitasking, you promote the environment of productivity in the organization. You see that employees are so busy carrying out their tasks because they know that they have to do more in less time. In this way, organizations can stimulate their employees to work more productively. Organizations are looking for this skills in every employee these days and if you have got this skill, you are good to go.
